How long does cockroach gel last?

  • In normal indoor conditions, cockroach gel keeps working around 3–6 months after placement.

  • You’ll usually see visible reduction within 36–48 hours and broad control in ~1–2 weeks when placement is done right.

  • Actual duration depends on site conditions, cleaning habits, pest pressure, and placement quality.

Why gel lasts (the mechanics)

  • Protected food source: In cracks and crevices the gel stays palatable longer, so roaches keep feeding.

  • Secondary transfer: Roaches that eat the gel contaminate others at the nest (feces, regurgitation, contact), extending control.

  • Targeted behavior: Bait meets roaches where they hide—edges, corners, warm motor housings—so consumption continues even when lights are off.

What shortens or extends the life

  • Cleaning & moisture: Steam, mopping, degreasers, and power-washing can remove or dry gel. Place dots on dry, protected edges, not wipe-down surfaces.

  • Heat & grease: Hot lines, fryer splash, and oily films reduce palatability. Degrease first; let it dry; then place bait.

  • Competing food: Open trash, food debris, and pet bowls distract roaches. Better sanitation = longer-lasting bait.

  • Infestation pressure: Heavy populations consume dots faster. Plan more dots and closer spacing in hotspots.

  • Incompatible treatments: Avoid spraying repellents or strong cleaners on/near bait. They suppress feeding.

How to place for maximum duration

  • Prep lightly: Wipe/degrease target edges; dry completely. After placement, don’t wipe those exact spots.

  • Use micro-dots: Many small dots (rice- to pea-size) work better than a few blobs. More edges = more fresh feeding points.

  • Go to the edges: Hinges, corners, along toe-kicks, behind/under appliances, pipe penetrations, cabinet corners, riser chases.

  • Spacing guide: Every 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) along runways; 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) in hotspots.

  • Adjust on evidence: If a dot isn’t touched in 72 hours, move it closer to fresh droppings, smear marks, or trap hits.

Service cadence (keeping it effective for months)

  • Day 0: Initial placement after light prep.

  • Day 2–3: Quick check—refresh eaten or dried dots, relocate untouched ones.

  • Week 1–2: Result checkpoint; top up hotspots; expand to new activity.

  • Ongoing maintenance: Clean, protected placements commonly hold 3–6 months. High-pressure sites (busy kitchens, multi-unit corridors) may need 2–4-week touch-ups until pressure drops.

Storage & shelf life (unopened vs. in use)

  • Unopened shelf life: About 2 years when stored cool, dry, out of direct sun.

  • After opening: Cap tightly, keep the tip clean, store at room temperature. Do not freeze. If the gel skins or hardens, purge a small amount to restore flow.

Safety & compliance

  • Follow the product label and local regulations. Keep away from children and pets.

  • Use bait separately from sprays/dusts; if both are required, separate by time and location.

  • Integrate with sanitation and exclusion (seal gaps, fix leaks) to extend bait life and prevent reinfestation.

About this product

Cockroach Killer Gel (POMAIS) is a professional-grade, ready-to-use bait formulated for micro-dot crack-and-crevice placements. It’s designed for fast visible reduction (often within 36–48 hours) and sustained control when used as part of an IPM program. The palatable matrix supports secondary transfer, the syringe format enables precise dosing in tight harborage, and the unopened product carries an approx. 2-year shelf life under proper storage. Always read and follow the label for approved use sites, precautions, and disposal.
