Dichlorvos, as a highly effective and broad-spectrum organophosphorus insecticide, works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase in the body of the insect, thus causing a blockage of nerve conduction and the death of the insect. Dichlorvos has the functions of fumigation, stomach poisoning and touch killing, with a relatively short residual period, and is suitable for the control of a variety of pests, including Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, and red spiders. Dichlorvos decomposes easily after application, has a short residual period and no residue, so it is widely used in the agricultural field.
Dichlorvos (2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate, commonly abbreviated as an DDVP) is an organophosphate widely used as an insecticide to control household pests, in public health, and protecting stored products from insects.
Suitable Crops
Dichlorvos is suitable for pest control in many crops, including corn, rice, wheat, cotton, soybeans, tobacco, vegetables, tea trees, mulberry trees and so on.
Preventing objects
Rice pests, such as brown planthopper, rice thrips, rice leafhopper, etc.

Application techniques
Common formulations of Dichlorvos include 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate), 50% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) and 77.5% EC (emulsifiable concentrate). Specific application techniques are detailed below:
Control of rice pests:
Brown planthopper:
DDVP 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 1500 - 2250 ml/ha in 9000 - 12000 liters of water.
Spread DDVP 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 2250-3000 ml/ha with 300-3750 kg of semi-dry fine soil or 225-300 kg of wood chips in non-watered rice fields.
Use DDVP 50% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 450 - 670 ml/ha, mix with water and spray evenly.
Control of vegetable pests:
Vegetable greenfly:
Apply 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 600 - 750 ml/ha in water and spray evenly, the efficacy lasts for about 2 days.
Use 77.5% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 600 ml/ha, spray evenly with water.
Use 50% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 600 - 900 ml/ha, spray evenly with water.
Brassica campestris, cabbage aphid, cabbage borer, oblique striped nightshade, yellow striped flea beetle, bean wild borer:
Use DDVP 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 600 - 750 ml/ha, evenly spray with water, the efficacy lasts about 2 days.
Control of cotton pests:
Aphids:
Use DDVP 80%EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 1000 - 1500 times liquid, evenly sprayed.
Cotton bollworm:
Apply DDVP 80%EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 1000 times liquid, evenly sprayed, and it also has the effect of simultaneous treatment on cotton blind stinkbugs, cotton small bridge bugs and so on.
For the control of miscellaneous grain and cash crop pests:
Soybean heartworm:
Cut the corn cob into about 10 cm, drill a hole at one end and drop 2 ml of DDVP 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate), and place the corn cob dripping with the medicine on the soybean branch about 30 cm away from the ground and clamp it firmly, place 750 cobs/hectare, and the efficacy of the medicine period can reach 10 - 15 days.
Sticky bugs, aphids:
Use DDVP 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 1500 - 2000 times liquid, spray evenly.
Against fruit tree pests:
Aphids, mites, leaf roller moths, hedge moths, nesting moths etc:
Use DDVP 80%EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 1000 - 1500 times liquid, evenly sprayed, efficacy lasts about 2 - 3 days, suitable for application 7 - 10 days before harvesting.
Control of warehouse pests:
Rice weevil, grain robber, grain robber, grain borer and wheat moth:
Use DDVP 80% EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 25-30 ml/100 cubic meters in the warehouse. Gauze strips and thick paper sheets can be soaked with EC (emulsifiable concentrate) and then hung evenly in the empty warehouse and closed for 48 hours.
Dilute dichlorvos 100 - 200 times with water and spray it on the wall and floor, and keep it closed for 3 - 4 days.
Hygiene pest control
Mosquitoes and flies
In the room where adult insects are concentrated, use DDVP 80% EC (emulsified oil) 500 to 1000 times liquid, spray the indoor floor, and close the room for 1 to 2 hours.
Bedbugs, cockroaches
Spray DDVP 80%EC (emulsifiable concentrate) 300 to 400 times on bed boards, walls, under beds, and places frequented by cockroaches, and close the room for 1 to 2 hours before ventilating.
Mixing
Dichlorvos can be mixed with methamidophos, bifenthrin, etc. to enhance the efficacy.
Cautions
Dichlorvos is easy to cause drug damage to sorghum, and is strictly prohibited to be applied on sorghum. Corn, melon and bean seedlings are also susceptible to damage, so be careful when using it. When spraying less than 1200 times the concentration of dichlorvos on apples after blossoming, it is also easy to be harmed by dichlorvos.
Dichlorvos should not be mixed with alkaline drugs and fertilizers.
Dichlorvos should be used as it is prepared, and dilutions should not be stored. Dichlorvos EC (emulsifiable concentrate) should not be mixed with water during storage.
When using dichlorvos in warehouse or indoor, applicators should wear masks and wash hands, face and other exposed parts of the body with soap after application. After indoor application, ventilation is required before entering. After using dichlorvos indoors, dishes should be cleaned with detergent before use.
Dichlorvos should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place.
1. Eliminate maggots: Dilute 500 times and spray on cesspit or sewage surface, use 0.25-0.5mL of stock solution per square meter.
2. Eliminate lice: Spray the above-mentioned diluted solution on the quilt and leave it for 2 to 3 hours.
3. Killing mosquitoes and flies: 2mL of the original solution, add 200mL of water, pour on the ground, close the windows for 1 hour, or soak the original solution with a cloth strip and hang it indoors. Use about 3-5mL for each house, and the effect can be guaranteed for 3-7 days.
1. Store only in original container. Tightly sealed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Store separately from food and feed in an area without drains or sewers.
2. Personal protection: chemical protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Do not flush down drain.
3. Collect the leaked liquid in a sealable container. Absorb liquid with sand or inert absorbent. Then store and dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
